1. My reading lesson always starts with A-HA REVIEW😃
- On the screen, there are some clues which make Ss remind what they learned in the last lesson.
- In pair, they tell their partner what they learned in Korean or English (depending on their levels).
- Ss who listen to their partners can just say a-ha.
-This yactivity makes Ss review their last lesson for themselves (ET doesn't have to explain all the things).
-Ss can have chance to organize their thoughts and learning by telling(expressing) the content of the lesson.
-Ss can get some motivation(a sense of confidence) or emotional support by getting agreement (hearing a-ha).
2. Read-aloud😉
- I don't want Ss to read the text silently. Instead, I have Ss read aloud more than three times in a reading lesson
- ET can vary this lesson
: give a specific/limit time
: read in a regular pace with CD-ROM(ET plays CD-ROM and turns the volume down, Ss read the text in the same pace with CD and keep the speed of reading)
3. The last step of my reading lesson is the challenge thing - Trade Your Questions😰
- It is common for Ss to get some comprehension questions from ET and solve the problems.
- But Ss can have opportunities to make their own comprehension questions about the text they read.
- According to their levels, Ss can make questions like simple yes-no questions/ TF questions or wh-questions.
- Each student make one comprehension question and trade the questions by asking and answering.
- While going around, one student asks a question to another and answer it. The other does so with the partner. And then they trade their questions and find another partner.
- While this activity, Ss can meet/solve more than 5 questions.
4. As a wrap up activity - Remember the questions😔
- In a group, Ss should remember the questions they heard/solve during the main activity
- By doing this, Ss can check their questions with group members.
